About
The Venny is a supervised communal backyard and drop in centre for all young children of Kensington, with an emphasis on those from disadvantaged backgrounds. From 2012 to 2018 Chamber Made partnered with The Venny to deliver a program of music lessons, workshops and co-devising performance works with the children of this community.
The partnership exemplifies best practice in arts-based community outreach. The quality and experience of the artists and staff created a deeply rewarding artistic experience for the young people of The Venny.
The seven-year commitment allowed the partnership to deliver meaningful, lasting benefits. Children experienced artistic excellence, led their own creative processes, gained genuine skills, strengthened community connections, and developed as cultural leaders. The program enhanced their social wellbeing and provided consistent access to a safe, welcoming space.
