About
The Orange House Residency is a program supporting mid-career women and gender-diverse artists working at the intersections of performance, sound and music. The residency provides dedicated time and space for practice development without the pressure of predetermined outcomes.
The program originated from the vision of the late artist Margaret Cameron, who wished for her home to be used for an artist-in-residence program. Now taking place at McCraith House—also known as the Butterfly House or Larrakeyah—located on the traditional land of the Bunurong People in Dromana, on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, the residency continues to honour Margaret's legacy.
About the Artist/s
We welcome composer and writer Roslyn Orlando as our 2025 Orange House Resident
'I will spend time on the residency researching, experimenting and developing a new composition and performance for voice, provisionally titled ‘Speech Acts’. This project takes inspiration from my child’s vocal experimentations in her journey towards speech, and extends upon my recent work thinking about what ‘speech’ means.' Roslyn Orlando
