About
Hi-Viz Practice Exchange provides a rare meeting place for women, non-binary and gender-diverse artists working across performance, sound and music. This powerful platform builds communities around cross-artform work, connecting artists across scenes and geographies in meaningful dialogue and exchange.
While many artists work in crossover spaces, few opportunities exist outside of training and production frameworks to explore this interdisciplinary territory together. Each artistic discipline brings distinct languages and processes—Hi-Viz unpacks these differences to unlock collaborative understandings and possibilities. Since its inception, the program has grown to nurture artist exchange, build new networks and skills, and seed collaborative dialogues to foster a thriving community of multi-artform practitioners.
Projects
2018 - 2019 Annual Hi-Viz Practice Exchange Gathering brought together up to 70 women and gender diverse artists for artist talks, practice presentations, networking and workshops at The Substation.
2020 - 2021 Moving online during Covid significantly increased participation from regional, interstate and international artists, connecting like-minded practitioners near and far.
2022 - 2024 Hi-Viz Satellites expanded the program through partnerships with Punctum Inc (Central Victoria) and SAtheCollective (Singapore), fostering dialogue between local artists and practitioners in Singapore and Taiwan.
2026 - 2027 A new two-year partnership with Vitalstatistix and Nexus Arts in Adelaide will nurture national dialogue around cross-artform practice through Adelaide-based gatherings connecting Victorian and South Australian artists.
