In 2015, THE RABBLE presented Episode 6: Hades from their work-in-progress—a new contemporary opera inspired by James Joyce's Ulysses—as part of Little Operations.
Developed in collaboration with composer Max Lyandvert, the episode explored provocations around modern death rituals, the relationship between the heroic, gender and death, the taboo of the corpse in contemporary society, and the sound of grief. The full work aimed to be an ambitious 10-hour durational theatrical experience covering all 18 episodes of Joyce's seminal modernist text, which retells Homer's Odyssey through the everyday life of Leopold Bloom.
